Dorchester Bay kicked February off with a wine tasting and food pairings event at the Boston Winery in Dorchester. Guests were treated to selections of locally made wine, and an assortment of light fare.
Guests heard Ashley Delva and Maria Rivera-Brown share the impact Dorchester Bay has had on their lives.
Ashley joined the Dorchester Bay Youth Force program at age 14 and sharpened her leadership skills by working on voter registration campaigns. Maria left an unfulfilling job to pursue entrepreneurship. A loan from the Dorchester Bay Small Business Assistance Program helped Maria launch JaMaPro, a commercial cleaning service. JaMaPro is going strong more than five years later.
A long-time supporter of Dorchester Bay, Edmond James of Chaps Services, rounded out the program with a heartfelt account of his investment in the Dorchester community. He emphasized the importance of supporting organizations like Dorchester Bay and creating opportunities.
Thanks to all who attended for making it a memorable event!
