Dorchester Bay Makes History

On June 9, more than 230 guests gathered at the historic Shirley-Eustis House in Roxbury to honor the contributions of David Lee and Gregory Janey. Against the backdrop of a beautiful 18th-century estate, community partners, local residents, and business leaders reaffirmed their commitment to building strong relationships, investing in affordable housing, and empowering communities. In a robust demonstration of partnership, supporters donated over $200,000 to Investing in Community, the most raised for an event in Dorchester Bay’s 37-year history.

During the evening program, Dorchester Bay CEO Perry Newman and Board President Daryl Wright brought home the challenges of maintaining affordable housing, and offered their hearty endorsement of the Community Preservation Act. Honorees David Lee and Gregory Janey spoke of the value of mentorship, opportunity, and the importance of giving back to communities.

Dorchester Bay’s Healthy Community Champions took to the stage to share their progress in increasing access to healthy foods in the community. They work with local store owners and pharmacies to introduce healthy beverage options into stores, and have established healthy food distribution sites in Dorchester.

Throughout the evening guests bid on auction items, made new connections, danced, and sang along with the live jazz band. All in all it was an inspiring evening.

Thanks to all of our guests for making Investing in Community an unforgettable event. Check out our photo gallery for more highlights of evening!
