Dorchester Bay and our team of resident leaders and youth – known as Healthy Community Champions (HCCs) – have been working hard on the Rethink Your Drink campaign. The Boston Public Health Commission aims to reduce the consumption of sugary drinks and promote healthy neighborhoods.
Beto Rosa from Dorchester Bay, and youth workers and resident leaders asked local stores support the initiative by agreeing to move water to the front of their stores instead of having sugary drinks readily available. Brown’s Market, Jackson Market, and La Parada Market said “yes”‘!
Yesterday, Boston City Councilor Frank Baker, representatives from the Boston Public Health Commission, and the Dorchester Bay HCC team walked to each store to recognize the owners and thank them personally. Each store owner received a certificate of appreciation. Councilor Baker also honored the youth and encouraged everyone to do their part for the kids of the future.
